About

Joe Drama lowering his sunglasses in a full-length studio portrait

Originally from Liverpool, UK, and now based in Sydney, Australia, JOE DRAMA is a DJ and producer with a love for underground house music, rolling grooves and hypnotic sounds.

His passion for dance music goes back to the Liverpool club scene, with one of his earliest and most memorable experiences being the legendary Cream Millennium celebrations at Liverpool's Pier Head in 1999, bringing in the year 2000. With the likes of Fatboy Slim and Paul Oakenfold on the lineup, it was his first real taste of a massive dance music event and an experience that stayed with him.

Music had always been a big part of his life, although his journey into production didn't follow the usual route. Before moving to Sydney in 2011, he spent time playing guitar in an indie/rock band, developing his musical interests long before getting behind the decks.

It wasn't until later in life that he decided to take electronic music more seriously, teaching himself Ableton Live and getting stuck into DJing and producing his own tracks.

Previously releasing music under the name JOSEPH-UK, he built up a catalogue of releases on labels including Data Transmissions DT weapons, Get Down Recordings and 13 Records, alongside Beatport features and radio support from stations including Kiss FM and Select Radio.

In 2026, he launched a new chapter under the name JOE DRAMA, making his debut on Circus Recordings with Okay!, featured on Yousef's Movements Part 9 compilation.

His sound sits firmly in the underground house scene, blending rolling basslines, infectious grooves and hypnotic vocals, with influences stretching back to the music that first caught his attention growing up in Liverpool.

Alongside producing and DJing, JOE DRAMA hosts his monthly radio show, Drama Class, on Data Transmission Radio, sharing a selection of underground house, deep house and deep tech.

With more releases lined up for early 2027 and his own record label, Sound That Records, there's plenty more music to come.
